Privacy Policy for Rotten Tabs (Chrome Extension)

Rotten Tabs is a Chrome extension that helps users automatically group, manage, and close inactive browser tabs based on how long they've been open.

1. Data Collection

Rotten Tabs does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. All data is stored locally in your browser and never sent to a server.

2. Permissions Used

• tabs – to track open tabs and measure how long each one stays open
• tabGroups – to group tabs based on their “age” and show warning stages
• storage – to save tab timing data and user-defined settings (like tab lifespan)
• notifications – to notify you when a tab becomes “fresh” again after being interacted with
• idle – to pause time tracking while your system is locked or idle
• alarms – to run regular checks that:
  • track how long each tab stays open
  • decide when to group a tab
  • automatically close tabs that exceed the allowed lifespan
